Dr. Spencer Nice

Practice Owner, DVM

Dr. Nice is proud to be the owner of Commonwealth Veterinary Clinic. What started as a high school mentorship experience in 1997 has led to a career that he still thoroughly enjoys today. In addition to managing the clinic, Dr. Nice enjoys seeing patients and performing surgery. When he's not working here at the clinic, Dr. Nice can usually be found on the baseball field, basketball court, or theater--chasing around his 3 very active children.  He and his wife Melissa make their home in Stuarts Draft, VA with their children Aaron, Alandra, and Easton.

Dr. Madison Braman

Full Time DVM

Dr.Braman is a Virginia native that was raised on the east coast. She attended James Madison University for her Bachelor's degree and graduated from Virginia-Maryland college of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. After graduating, her and her boyfriend moved back to the valley that she fell in love with while at school. Dr. Braman started at Commonwealth in June 2023 and has a special interest in preventative and behavioral medicine. When she is not working she enjoys spending time at home and exploring nature with her boyfriend, Dakotah and her German Shepherd, Shera

Dr. Bianca Reynolds

Part Time DVM

Dr. Reynolds was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley. After attending Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, her and her husband moved to Raphine in 2018. She has practiced equine medicine for the past 5 years. Dr. Reynolds started at Commonwealth in January 2023 and very much enjoys working on small animals. Dr. Reynolds is also certified in mixed animal acupuncture and equine medical manipulation. When she is not working she enjoys spending time at home with her husband, their new daughter and their dogs and horses.

Dr. Brandy Callison

Part Time DVM

Dr. Callison has been working for Commonwealth Vet Clinic as a part-time relief veterinarian since 2021. She was born and raised in the Augusta County area. She then pursued her veterinarian career at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Callison then continued to work in Oklahoma for 15 years as a mixed animal practitioner with her certification as a veterinary medical acupuncturist, but then returned to the Augusta area in 2018. Reading, knitting, crocheting and hiking are just a few hobbies Dr. Callison enjoys during her spare time.

Dr. Holly Barton

Currently Not in Practice 

Dr. Barton grew up in Nelson County and had over 30 rescued dogs and cats over the course of her childhood.  A graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, Dr. Barton is a member of Phi Zeta having graduated in the top 10% of her class.  She enjoyed life as a mixed animal practitioner for her first five years, but has settled into working primarily with dogs and cats.  Dr. Barton likes to develop tailored health plans for pets to live long healthy lives. Conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes and oral health are particular areas of interest.  She also loves helping clients and patients cope with behavior issues. In her spare time, Dr. Barton enjoys spending time with her husband Volker and her two sons, Levin and Luka. She likes to play bridge and any sort of game (Dr. Barton played college basketball and volleyball).  Cooking and eating delicious meals with her family is also a favorite pastime.  She is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where she studied Russian.

Kim McDaniel

Hospital Administrator 

Kim started with Commonwealth in November of 2021.  She was an Assisted Living Administrator that was looking for a change and has always loved working and being around animals.  Kim is originally from Nelson County but now lives in Waynesboro with her husband Robbie and children.  She has 2 boys that are very active in sports and spends most of her evenings and weekends on a field or court.  In her down time she enjoys spending time with family and her 4 dogs and 2 cats.

Jenny Cobb

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse, Team Leader, Medical Support Services

Jenny graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in May of 2000 with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and joined the team at Commonwealth shortly after. She has always wanted to provide good quality health care for all animals. Her responsibilities include being an active participant with the technical staff members, inventory control, and general hospital protocols. Jenny is the steady hand that keeps things organized and running smoothly behind the scenes, and our techs have gained skills and confidence under her mentorship. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising in various ways, including running and weight training. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff, their three kids and pets.

Amanda F.

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse 

Originally from South of Richmond, Amanda moved to the area back in 2001. She has been working in the veterinary field since the age of 16. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Blue Ridge Community College in 2006. She also received a bachelor's degree from

Eastern Mennonite University in 2021. She has worked at several clinics in the area and has been with CVC since 2014. Mandy thoroughly enjoys looking down the microscope, and often acts as our resident lab expert. Amanda and her husband, Lee, live in Verona with 3 cats and 2 dogs.

Danielle Dollins

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse, Kennel and Boarding Facility Manager 

Danielle Dollins, or as we like to call her “Dani”, has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician of Blue Ridge Community College since May of 2019. Born and raised in New Jersey, Dani moved to Virginia in 2011. When entering her college career, Dani knew she wanted a career in the animal field, but what career was the question. After attending a few semesters at Blue Ridge and obtaining her Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree, Dani made the decision to continue her education at BRCC to obtain her Associate of Applied Science Degree to be a Licensed Veterinary Technician. When Dani isn’t at our clinic caring for your animals, she is home caring for her animals. She has 3 cats, 1 rabbit and 2 guinea pigs. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Wes, taking photos, painting or spending time with her family.

Miriam Minich

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse and Receptionist Manager

Miriam is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduating from Blue Ridge Community College in May 2022. She has always had a love for animals and has always wanted to end up in veterinary medicine. In 2017, she graduated from Radford University with B.S. Environmental Biology. Originally, she is from Mechanicsville, VA where she grew up on a farm and moved to the Waynesboro/Stuarts Draft area in 2017. When she is not at work, she loves hanging out with her significant other Monte and family as well as her dog Nami, and two kitties Citra and Black Cat. She also loves being outdoors, hiking and doing water activities.

Maddy Lavender 

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse 

Maddy is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in May of 2023. She is currently studying to gain her certification to be a Certified Canine Rehab Practitioner. She has been working at Commonwealth for over five years now and has been a kennel attendant, receptionist, and veterinary assistant. Maddy helps with a local rescue called BROOD where she has adopted both of her dogs, Herman and Rosemary. She also has adopted two cats named Goose and Drake. In Maddy’s free time she likes to go to the gym and spend time with her family and friends.

Sarah Smith

LVT, Veterinarian Nurse

Sarah is a part time veterinary technician here at Commonwealth. You may also see her filling in as a receptionist from time to time. She graduated from Blue Ridge Community College's Vet tech program in 2016 and joined our team that same year. When Sarah is home, she is tending to her two children or her many pets and spending time with her husband Jeremiah. She has 4 dogs, 2 horses, 3 cats, 3 rabbits and 2 parakeets. She also enjoys riding her horses and sharing that love with her children now.

Mackenzie Mawyer

Receptionist/ Kennel Attendant 

Kenzie, a recent graduate from Stuarts Draft High School, is one of our full-time receptionists and part-time kennel attendant here at Commonwealth. Kenzie was born and raised in Stuart Draft Virginia with her younger sister. For as long as Kenzie could remember, she absolutely adored animals. When she turned 17 she applied for a job at Commonwealth and has worked here almost a year now. Kenzie grew up with 3 dogs and plans on getting plenty more when she eventually gets her own place. During Kenzie's free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family and attending sport games of really any kind.

Emma Varnier 

Receptionist/ Kennel Attendant

Emma has been working for CVC since 2020 and has been cross trained as a kennel attendent and receptionist. She has always had a love for animals and willing to lend a hand whenever help is needed. Emma graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 2021, and is currently attending Radford Univserity. She is studying to become a nurse with hopes of getting her BSN and RN license. Waynesboro, VA has always been her home and spends a lot of her time with friends and family. She has two dogs, Margo a Miniature English Bulldog and Toby who is a Bernese Mountain Dog. As well as her cat Louie and two chickens Doris and Martha.

Alexa Glover

Receptionist

Alexa has been a receptionist at Commonwealth since October of 2023. She graduated from Ridgeview Christian school and is now enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Blue Ridge Community College. Alexa has always had a love for animals and knew she would love to work with them every day. Alexa has two dogs of her own that she absolutely adores, a Pekingese named Cocoa and a Shih-Pom named Si. In her free time, she enjoys painting, playing tennis, volley ball and basketball. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Hanna Williams

Assistant Kennel Manager/

Veterinary Assistant 

Hanna has been a part of the commonwealth team for 6 years and has held the title of assistant kennel manager for 3 years. She's also been cross trained as one of our veterinary assistants and trains new kennel attendants. She has a lovely 11 year old daughter, named Emma, a cat named Pearl and two little dogs named Mojo and Clover. Hanna is quite the movie fanatic and enjoys drive-in showings with her husband. She also enjoys going to concerts whenever she can.

Kennel Attendant 

Madison has worked as a Kennel attendant at Commonwealth since August of 2022. She is currently home schooled through Penn Foster High School. She was born in Fishersville Va and was raised in Waynesboro Va with her two brothers and her two sisters. When Madison graduates she would like to go school for either cosmetology or like her mom, study nursing. Although she didn’t grow up around many animals, she has always had an overwhelming love for all them. For her 16th birthday she got her very first puppy named Porter that she absolutely adores. During Madison’s free time, she enjoys hanging out with her family, watching and playing sports along with many other things.

Cheryl Monroe

Veterinary Assistant 

Cheryl grew up in Augusta County and is a James Madison University graduate. After graduating from JMU, she was a stay at home mother until February of 2022 when she joined our clinic. She has always enjoyed being around and working with animals. She lives in Augusta County with her husband, two children, two cats, two dogs and a tarantula.

Kennel Attendant

Lacey has been a kennel attendant at Commonwealth since November of 2022. She graduated from Stuart’s Draft High School 2021. She also works part time for Misty Oaks Farm in Staunton. She’s loved animals for as long as she can remember. Throughout her childhood she’s had many different types of pets. Now she has a Pitbull “Dax” and a quarter horse “Gus”. In Lacey’s free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hanging out with her boyfriend “Dylan”, riding, and even spending time at the barn.

Aaron Nice

Receptionist/ Veterinary Assistant  

Aaron is from Stuarts Draft, and recently graduated from Stuarts Draft High School in the spring of 2022. In the fall he plans to attend Bridgewater College where he will major in business, play football, and take prerequisite classes for veterinary school. He has been working at Commonwealth since summer 2021 and also did a mentorship with Dr. Nice in the fall and winter of 2021. In his spare time, Aaron likes to lift weights and spend time with his friends and family.

Kennel Attendant 

Abby is one of our Kennel Attendants at Commonwealth since March of 2023. Abby has been born and raised in Augusta County. She is a student at Wilson Memorial High School and an athlete for the volleyball program. She recently has been accepted at Valley Career and Technical Center for their Vet Science program. She hopes to further a career in Vet Science, in hopes to be a large animal Veterinarian. Abby found her love for animals by growing up around them. At home Abby has 2 black labs (Hannah and Ellie) and loves being around livestock. In Abby's free time she loves playing and watching sports and spending time with family and friends.
